Introduction
Faculty are deeply engaged in the governance of Portland State University. Through the Faculty Senate President's Advisory Council and numerous other venues, faculty participate in decision making concerning the curriculum, standards of conduct, and work life. Students also have a strong voice in governance through the Associated Students of Portland State University and their participation on standing and ad hoc administrative committees. As part of the Oregon University System, Portland State is responsible for implementing policies and procedures of the Oregon State Board of Higher Education and the administrative rules of the State of Oregon. In recent years, changes in composition and direction of the State Board have provided new challenges for the University.
